Greco Gum Mastic Gum Starter Pack
Greco Gum
Mastic Gum Starter Pack
A single-ingredient tree resin chew with no synthetic gum base, sold in tins. It is unsweetened, piney, and much harder than regular gum, so it suits people who want a jaw workout or an after-meal chew more than a sweet breath freshener.
One ingredient, crystallized mastic resin from the Greek island of Chios, packed in metal tins. No gum base, no sweeteners, and nothing plastic in the chew.
How this score breaks down
Strengths
- One ingredient: crystallized mastic resin, nothing added
- No synthetic gum base, so you are not chewing plastic
- Metal tins instead of plastic blister packs
- Lab results for heavy metals, pesticides, and microbes published for every harvest
Trade-offs
- Hard enough to damage fillings, crowns, or braces, per the brand
- Piney and unsweetened, not a mint breath gum
- Tin metal and lid liner are not disclosed
- A consumable, so it is repurchased rather than reused

About Greco Gum
Greco Gum started in 2021, when three friends named Nick, Jon, and Logan set out to bring mastic gum from the Greek island of Chios to American shoppers. They began with raw mastic resin, and the line now includes softer nuggets, harder droplets, and mastic powder capsules for people who would rather not chew. In 2024 the company moved its headquarters to Chios, and it sources its resin through the island's official growers' association.
The raw resin carries the EU's Protected Designation of Origin, a legal label that ties the name Chios Mastiha to resin harvested on Chios, and the brand publishes independent lab results for heavy metals, pesticides, and microbes for every harvest. It costs far more than supermarket gum, and the brand is upfront that the resin is hard enough to damage fillings, crowns, or braces.
