About Repurpose
Repurpose is a woman-led company founded in 2010 in Los Angeles by Lauren Gropper, who worked in sustainable design and became set on a better answer to everyday plastic. It makes compostable disposable tableware such as plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery, along with paper goods and bags.
The brand states its products are BPI certified compostable to ASTM standards and USDA Certified Biobased, meaning they are made largely from plant material and designed to break down. The key limit is that these are compostable disposables that need commercial composting to break down as claimed rather than a landfill.
