OSEA Undaria Algae Body Lotion
OSEA
Undaria Algae Body Lotion
Most body lotions are synthetic polymer soups in plastic jugs. This one solves both, minus the pump.
A lotion that avoids the invisible plastic most lotions carry: no carbomer, no acrylates, thickened with xanthan gum, in a glass bottle.
How this score breaks down
Strengths
- No carbomer or acrylate polymers, the hidden liquid plastics of lotions
- Glass bottle with disclosed recycled-content pump
- Registry-confirmed certifications
Trade-offs
- The pump is plastic and not recyclable
- Synthetic preservatives present, though not polymers

About OSEA
OSEA is a family-owned, mother-and-daughter company founded in 1996 in Malibu, California, by Jenefer Palmer and now led by her daughter Melissa, inspired by a great-grandmother who believed in the healing power of the ocean. It makes clean, seaweed-based skincare, including cleansers, face oils, moisturizers, and its Undaria Algae Body Oil.
It is certified vegan by PETA and Leaping Bunny cruelty-free, and it carries the Climate Label for measuring and reducing its carbon footprint, and it was an early signer of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. Positioned at the prestige end, its sustainability story is really about clean marine ingredients, glass packaging, and climate labeling rather than refills.
