About Mustela

Mustela began in France in 1950, when Paul Berthomé partnered with pharmacist Claude Guillon to create the very first baby cleansing milk, and it remains family-owned today, led by the founder's son Jean-Paul Berthomé, with production in Epernon, France since 1957. The brand makes baby and maternity skincare: cleansing gels, lotions, diaper creams, sunscreen, and reusable cloth wipes. Its parent company, Laboratoires Expanscience, has been a Certified B Corporation since 2018, an independent standard for a company's overall social and environmental practices. Mustela's stated ambition is to stand by parents and make their lives easier with naturally derived products. The honest framing: this is a large family-owned corporation rather than a small maker, and naturally derived is not the same as certified organic, which covers only part of its range.
