About Meliora
Meliora is a woman-owned cleaning company founded in 2013 in Chicago by Kate Jakubas and Mike Mayer, after Kate, an environmental engineering student, could not find a cleaner with full ingredient disclosure and formulated her own. It makes plastic-free powder detergent, oxygen brightener, soap sticks, all-purpose spray, and bar soaps, still made in its own Chicago factory.
It is a certified B Corp and MADE SAFE certified, both confirmed in their registries, meaning it meets audited social and environmental standards and is screened free of known toxic ingredients, and it is a member of 1% for the Planet. Every ingredient is printed on every label, and the plastic-free, refillable packaging runs across the core line rather than one product.
