About Fat and the Moon
Fat and the Moon was founded in 2012 by herbalist Rachel Budde, who began formulating body care in her Brooklyn kitchen before moving the woman-owned company to Nevada City, California. It hand-makes deodorant cream, salves, skincare, and hair care from plant-based ingredients.
Its philosophy is to turn routine into ritual using the healing traditions of plants, with locally and fairly sourced ingredients and low-waste packaging, and the brand states its products are cruelty-free. The deodorant is a jarred cream you apply with your fingers, the baking-soda-free version is the pick for reactive skin, and being small-batch and handmade it carries a higher price per ounce.
