Bend Soap Co.

Oatmeal & Honey Goat Milk Soap

A plastic-free bar with a short ingredient list and no added fragrance. Bend Soap Co. sent us this bar to try, and on our tester's arm it left skin feeling softer and less dry, and the light scent lasted. Confidence is partial because the brand does not describe its packaging and does not verify its palm oil sourcing.

1 / 10 Low plastic footprint $

A goat milk bar with ground oats and raw honey and no added fragrance, from a family farm business. Bend Soap Co. sent us this bar to try, and our sample came in a paper wrapper. Contains palm oil and goat milk.

How this score breaks down

Plastic in the product and its packaging Plastic-free
Paper wrapper, based on our own hands-on check of the bar. Bend Soap Co. does not describe its packaging on its website.
Microplastic shedding and leaching Doesn't shed
No plastic ingredients listed. The bar is goat milk, coconut, olive, and palm oils, oats, and honey made into soap.
End of life: persistence and recovery Mostly recovers
Recyclable, repairable, or genuinely recovered; low persistence.
Plastic-derived chemicals of concern No concerns
No phthalates, bisphenols, or PFAS.
Transparency and disclosure Partly disclosed
Main ingredients listed on the product page, with lye explained on a separate ingredients page. Packaging is not disclosed, and the palm oil is called sustainable without naming a certifier.

Strengths

  • Plastic-free bar in a paper wrapper, based on our hands-on check
  • Short ingredient list with no essential oils or added fragrance
  • Oats and honey for a gentle scrub
  • Our tester found it left skin softer and less dry

Trade-offs

  • Contains palm oil the brand calls sustainably harvested, but it names no certification for that palm oil
  • The brand website never states what the bar is packaged in
  • We found no third-party certifications; the badges on the product page are the brand's own graphic and cruelty-free is self-declared
  • Contains goat milk, so it is not vegan

About Bend Soap Co.

Bend Soap Co. began on the Johnson family's goat farm in Central Oregon, where Dwight and Marilee, parents of ten, started making goat milk soap to soothe their son's eczema. Friends and neighbors began asking for bars, and the family sold them at farmers markets and craft shows along the West Coast before growing into an online business. The company makes goat milk soaps, lotions, and milk baths, and later moved to Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, after the city of Bend tore down its shipping building. Bend Soap Co. says its products are cruelty-free and its palm oil is sustainably harvested, but those are the brand's own statements with no third-party certifier named. Bend Soap Co. sent us this bar to try, and the paper wrapper noted here comes from our own hands-on check, since the brand does not describe its packaging.
