About Bambu
Bambu was started in 2003 by Rachel Speth and Jeff Delkin, a couple with Pacific Northwest roots who left corporate jobs in America and moved to China to build the company alongside its producer groups, where they still live and work. The brand makes bamboo kitchen and kids goods, from baby feeding spoons and utensils to cutting boards and certified-compostable single-use tableware. Its stated goal for over 20 years has been reducing reliance on plastic through non-toxic products made from nature, and it is certified woman-owned through the Women's Business Enterprise National Council. Bambu has been a Certified B Corporation since 2018, an independent standard for a company's overall social and environmental practices, its bamboo sourcing is Forest Stewardship Council certified for responsible forestry, and it donates at least 1% of sales to environmental nonprofits as a 1% for the Planet member. The honest note is that everything is made in China, a fact the founders answer by living there alongside their team rather than managing from afar.
